Kent and Medway learning disability and autism strategy

(You can view the easy read version of this page here)

What do we want to know?

The councils and the NHS in Kent and Medway are working with citizens to produce a three-year plan for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. We want to hear what you think and understand your experiences to inform this plan.

We want to hear from residents of Kent and Medway with lived experience of learning disability or autism, their family, carers and professionals who work with them. We also want to hear from the wider population of Kent and Medway.

We have already spoken to some people about what a good life looks like, and what helps or hinders this to be achieved. We ran an event on Monday 20 November in Maidstone, where people with lived experience, their families and their carers were invited to share their views. We want to understand if you agree with what they have told us and if you think anything is missing.

We only want to hear from Kent and Medway residents.

How can I find out more?

The Powerpoint presentation in the ‘Documents’ section contains more information. It is in an accessible format.

Please read this information before you answer the questions on the ideas board at the bottom of the page.

An easy-read version of this page is also in the ‘Documents’ section.

If you need the information in a different format, please contact us.

How can I get involved?

There are a number of ways to get involved:

  • Answer the questions on the ideas board at the bottom of the page.
  • Contact us using the details under the "Who's Listening" section on this page.

What happens next?

Once your feedback reaches us, we will:

  • Analyse responses and create a report, which will be on this page
  • As much as we can, reflect your views in the strategy
  • Publish the draft strategy on this website for further engagement in early 2024

We will be in touch in the new year to discuss this subject more. If you would like us to come and talk to your local support or activity group about the new strategy, please email us at kent.ctr@nhs.net
